Shopping & How to use our website
Making a purchase could not be easier. See a full overview of how to use the website below. Or for quickness, we've listed the most common frequently asked questions right here, which will hopefully answer your query ASAP.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Q: How do I buy something from your website?
    A: If you have found a product you wish to purchase but can't see a 'buy' button, simply click on the 'More Details' button on that product, or if there are a number of sub-categories one of the 'Quick Links' will take you to the one you want. Because we have so many variations of many of our products, there may be a few pages to click through before getting to the 'buy' page.
  2. Q: How much will delivery cost?
    A: Simply click the 'Buy Now' button on the item you wish to purchase - this will take you to the shopping basket where you will see the delivery cost and be able to choose between courier or post if applicable. Note: If your delivery address is outside mainland UK you will need to proceed to the checkout (or Register and log-in) to see if there is a surcharge for your area. More information can be found on the Delivery and Terms & Conditions pages.
  3. Q: Are your prices inclusive or exclusive of VAT?
    A: All prices on the website are retail prices and include VAT. We can issue a VAT invoice on request without any problems.
  4. Q: Why has my item not arrived next day like you promised?
    A: Most probably because you selected 1st Class Post on your order. Note that smaller items will default to post and 'Courier' should be selected to guarantee next day. While the Royal Mail normally delivers next day for 1st class, unfortunately in the lead up to Christmas they get extremely busy and mail can take up to 5 days to arrive. Therefore we CANNOT guarantee next day delivery on 1st class post items. This is clearly stated on the on the Delivery and Terms & Conditions pages.
  5. Q: Am I safe to enter my card details into your site?
    A: Yes. Our payment page is protected by 128-bit secure socket layer encryption which is the industry standard. The security certificate and encryption is provided by Thawte who are a global leader in these services. You will notice that the address on the payment page begins with 'https' and the padlock icon should appear on your browser. Note that you will only see these on the payment page because it isn't necessary to encrypt the data on the other pages.
  6. Q: Where is my courier delivery which was due today?
    A: We use Initial Citylink couriers who are one of the quickest and most reliable in the UK. All of our Citylink deliveries are next-day but they, like us, are only human and on rare occasions mistakes will happen. If the courier has in fact called and left a card, you should call them in the first instance on 08700 007 007; they may well still be able to get your package to you that day. If there is no card, you should call us and we will contact the courier to find out what has happened. Note that we may still ask you to contact the receiving depot directly as well as it always helps if the reciepient has been in direct contact. If your address is difficult to find, please give as much information as possible when you place your order.
  7. Q: Can you tell me what time my delivery will arrive?
    A: No, sorry. As with all road courier services, Citylink cannot promise exactly when a particular van may be at a certain point on it's route. You can however order special services such as pre-noon or pre-10:30 (surcharges apply). See the Delivery page for more details.
  8. Q: Can I pay by cheque or P.O. / Invoice?
    A: Yes. At the payment page, simply leave the credit card details blank and click the 'Continue' button on the Cheque / BACS section. The next page gives BACS details; you are asked for a reference number here - if you are paying by cheque and don't have a ref. no. simply enter any value. Click 'Confirm' and this will create your order on our system whereby we can process it once payment is received. Note that we can issue an invoice on receipt of a purchase order, but NO goods will be dispatched until payment is received.

 

How to shop on XmasDirect.co.uk
Our website is actually very easy to use but because we have a great number of product lines, many of which have a number of variations, it can be difficult to list them in a format that suits everyone. We have chosen a basic 'hierarchy' structure meaning that you choose your product category first then navigate down to your desired product. Start by selecting the category you want using the Product Menu to the left of each page. Click the 'More Details' buttons or 'Quick Links' to get down to the individual products. When you have found a product that you wish to order, add to your shopping basket by clicking the 'Buy Now' button.

Purchasing & Payment
Once you have completed your shopping list, proceed to the checkout by clicking the "Checkout" button at the top of your page. You will then be asked for a few details that we need to complete your order request.

We accept all major credit & debit cards for payment. You may send your credit card information via phone, fax, mail or over the Internet. Please quote your order number in all communications.

If you are shopping from outside the U.K. for example North America, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency.

Payment is not taken until we have confirmed that the goods on order are in stock, have been allocated to your order and are ready to ship.
