The low-wide reservoir accommodates low branches and spill guard prevents over-filling mishaps.  The tempered, rust-proof spikes in the center of the reservoir anchor the tree, preventing shifting and making set-up easy. We cannot recommend these stands highly enough and use them ourselves for all of our corporate  jobs. The extra large stand comes with a recommendation for up to 12ft trees, we have put plenty of 15ft trees in them with all our corporate jobs around the country. That is how good these stands are.
